One of several adaptations of Conan Doyle's classic tale, this one is considered to have the best portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, by Peter Cushing. Holmes is called in when Sir Charles Baskerville seemingly falls prey to the family curse: a hell-hound which is said to haunt the moors of Devon. However, rather than investigate personally, Holmes opts to send his trusted colleague Doctor Watson (Andre Morell) to take up residence at Baskerville Hall to protect Sir Charles' heir, Sir Henry Baskerville (Christopher Lee) and attempt to get to the bottom of the mystery. But Holmes is not far away and on-hand to unravel the mystery.
