Collection of classic features starring John Wayne. In 'The War Wagon' (1967) rancher Taw Jackson (Wayne) seeks revenge upon cattle baron Frank Pierce (Bruce Cabot), who had robbed him of his life savings and his reputation years before. When he discovers that his nemesis is hiding half a million dollars of gold bullion in an armoured stagecoach, Taw gathers together a motley crew to help him steal it. In 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance' (1962) big-city lawyer Ransom (James Stewart) heads into the Wild West outpost of Shinbone to bring local outlaw Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin) to justice. En route, he is met by a posse led by Valance, who beat him within an inch of his life. Passing cowboy Tom Doniphon (Wayne) rescues Ransom, gets him set up in Shinbone and supports his efforts to be elected sheriff. Meanwhile, he also attempts to teach his clumsy protege the fundamentals of gun slinging, so that Valance may at last be brought to book. 'The Quiet Man' (1952) follows Irish-American boxer Sean Thornton (Wayne) who refuses to fight again after a traumatic bout. He returns to Ireland to reclaim his family's farm in Inisfree. But when love intervenes he is forced to fight again to win the heart and hand of local girl Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O'Hara) whose brother Red (Victor McLaglen) wants the farm for himself and objects to the pair's union. In 'True Grit' (1969), when her father is murdered by outlaw Tom Chaney (Jeff Corey), 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Kim Darby) attempts to track down the killer. After hearing of his fearsome reputation, Mattie goes to ageing U.S. Marshall Rooster Cogburn (Wayne) for help and convinces him to assist with her quest. Along the way, the pair are joined by La Boeuf (Glen Campbell), a Texas Ranger hoping to collect the reward on another of Chaney's murders, and together the trio travel from Fort Worth, across the wilderness, and deep into Native American territory in pursuit of their man. Finally, in 'The Sons of Katie Elder' (1965) four sons are re-united when they return home to Clearwater to bury their mother, Katie Elder. John Elder (Wayne) is the oldest brother, a gunslinger. Tom (Dean Martin) is next, a card sharp who shares his sibling's ability with a gun only when his back is to the wall. Matt (Earl Holliman) is the moody one, while the youngest is Bud (Michael Anderson Jr), upon whom the family's hopes of respectability rest.
