Spanish comedy drama written and directed by Pedro Almodovar. Cristina S. Pascual stars as Yolanda, a nightclub singer who witnesses her boyfriend die from an overdose. With the police out to question her, she decides to take refuge with a strange band of nuns in a convent in Madrid. With the convent, which was set up to offer shelter to troubled women, in serious danger of closure due to the withdrawal of funding from their main benefactor, the nuns welcome Yolanda and plan to get her to sing at a party for their wealthy patron in the hope that it will convince her not to abandon them. The cast also includes Julieta Serrano, Carmen Maura and Cecilia Roth.
