Blake Edwards writes and directs this 1950s comedy starring Debbie Reynolds and Curd Jurgens. When receptionist Janet Blake (Reynolds) accepts a lift from a handsome up-and-coming actor, she finds herself fleeing from his company when the man expects her to repay him in a certain way. As she knocks on a stranger's door hoping for a good samaritan, she finds Preston 'Mitch' Mitchell (Jurgens), an actor-turned-horse-rancher who chivalrously lets her stay the night in his spare room. When Mitch offers Janet a job as his secretary, she gladly accepts, finding the older man's company very pleasing, but when Mitch's on-off girlfriend Nita (Alexis Smith) returns, she is adamant that Mitch should get back on the stage where he belongs. The cast also includes John Saxon, Mary Astor and Estelle Winwood.
